Everything You Need to Know About Bikinis

Of suntan, saltwater, and relaxing waves, bikinis are always in season during summer. Whether of high or low cuts, it gives you a bolder feeling while being comfortable with your skin. Yet, they are not for the faint-hearted; as they tend to show more while wearing less, it lets your confidence shine through and through. Whether you’re a plus-size or not, you can always show off what you got with the right bikini for you.

You may be a first-timer or not with wearing them, it should not be about how you look when wearing one. Hence, bikinis show how you feel, and you should not let anyone make you feel bad when showing your bodies off —- it’s a cultural moment for women of varying sizes, so empower yourself and feel no less of your confidence.

Types of Bikinis

One Piece

Offering great coverage while still showing off your buns, this bikini gives you great fitted coverage from top to bottom. It is great for those wanting to have a vigorous beach activity, as it can hold everything in place without a malfunction. One downside; you’d have to undress them fully when nature calls! And oh, please. Don’t ever try peeing in open water. Remember you’re a modest and educated gal!

Retro Bikinis

This features low-leg cutouts with high-waisted bikini bottoms, giving you that Marilyn Monroe kind of vibe. They flatter almost all body types and even let your curves run through the fitted bottom. You can even hide your bellies if you’re worried about it —- but we suggest you still feel confident having it.

Microkini

When you thought bikinis couldn’t get any smaller, microkinis happen to change your mind. This skimpy bikini bottom lets you show the wholeness of your peaches, with less fabric at the front but has a higher cut behind (imagine a Y-back for instance). It may have lesser fabrics, but it has enough coverage to still make you confident without having to compromise. But just a heads up, this is only for people who are super confident about showing off more skin. Hence, more space for your tans if you happen to prefer so!

Bandeau

A bikini with a strapless top, it’s fashion-forward and fun. This type of swimwear accentuates your bust, creating a more flattering and bolder effect for you. It’s similar to a tube, but not narrower, and can even create a more busty effect for those who aren’t well endowed (you know what we mean).

Tankini

This looks like a one-piece bikini. But technically, it’s a two-piece. Tankinis are made where you can cover your upper body and belly buttons but still can appear sexy especially when you get the fitted ones. This also works for all body types and is even perfect for conservative girls.

The Malfunction Question

Oftentimes, women can be overthinkers —- let’s face it. Some can be so confident, but some still can’t go outside of their comfort zone. Thus, the wardrobe malfunction daydream comes on. But girls, bikinis have varying functions too.

If you’re up for some adventure on the water, we suggest that you wear something that can hold even in strong tides. Your perfect choice for this would be the one-piece bikinis as it does not have a strap but holds everything into place. Yet, if you just want to flaunt your bums and busts out, you can wear stringed bikinis, and the strapless ones… still depend on what you want to wear.

Still, it is necessary to choose bikinis that offer great coverage when you want to go surfing or do activities in strong tides, and you can wear something more revealing if you just want to get your tans on.

Does it fit?

Bikinis are beautiful but sometimes weird. Oftentimes, they are sold by pair. But the funny thing is, it might fit on your busts but not on your bums, and vice versa. Hence, there are a lot of stores that can sell them separately, and you just have to know what size you should wear. Ask, fit, and tell yourself if it looks great;; the question should lie on how confident and how you want it to comply with your body.

It shows too much skin

Bikinis are a way of showing off your body, and there’s nothing wrong with showing your curves. However, if you still feel a little overwhelmed with it but still want to wear it, you can choose from a variety of tops and bottoms. You may always purchase long-sleeved tops and boy short bottoms.

Still, need not worry about stretch marks; many women feel insecure about it. Remember that’s a part of your skin and that’s who and what makes you who you are. So better feel confident about it.

Nevertheless, if you don’t show your skin, what’s the point of wearing a bikini, eh?

What’s the right color for me?

As bikinis should make you feel the way you are, you may always choose from a variety of colors and patterns. Some may be baffled by how it matches their skin, but it does not really matter.

You can always choose the color and pattern you like and your skin color does not control what you want. Thus, choose the colors that you want, and never be bothered by how it looks on you. It will always look beautiful when you get to wear them.

I’m not too comfortable with it

Bikinis give you freedom and comfort and it even goes beyond the thought of being a conservative woman who is always believed to be prim and proper —- this is only a prejudice of people saying that you should not show too much when on the pool or beach.

With this, it is important to know that wearing a bikini isn’t about what others perceive you. Nonetheless, it’s about being able to counter that prejudice, whether you’re big or small, and letting all the confidence shine in you. Remember, bikinis are made for women, by women, to feel more of being a woman.

No one should take that away from you.
