International franchises that need to come to Australia

Today I discovered that Saudi Arabia has The Cheesecake Factory, Five Guys, Applebees and Tim Hortons but Australia does not.

They also have several other American franchises that we do not have. There is nothing wrong with this. Good on Saudi Arabia for having these things but my question is where is our Cheesecake Factory? When will we get to have the luxury of having a Five Guys bacon cheeseburger without having to leave the country?

Here are some international franchises that need to come to Australia.

Walmart

Walmart currently has 6080 stores in 26 countries outside of the United States. Are you ready for them all?:

Argentina, Botswana, Canada, Chile, China, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Japan, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mexico, Mozambique, Namibia, Nicaragua, Nigeria, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and last but not least, who could forget Zambia. Did you notice that Australia is not one of them?

China doesn’t even have Facebook… but hey at least they have Walmart.

Walmart sometimes operates under different names in different countries. You might know it better as ASDA in the United Kingdom and Best Price in India.

I have heard a rumour that Walmart’s employment practices are illegal in Australia. But surely they can be modified for the Australian market. I really hope that Walmart can come to Australia soon so we can finally buy our groceries, furniture and guns in the one shop. Just kidding probably not the guns.

The Cheesecake Factory

The Cheesecake Factory currently operates in the United States, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Lebanon, Canada, China, Hong Kong and Mexico.

This restaurant is not to be confused with The Cheesecake Shop. The Cheesecake Factory is so much more than just a cheesecake shop. Not only do they serve 34 mouth-watering cheesecakes but they also serve large and hearty meals and have an extensive menu with food worth gaining a few kilos for. Some must-try dishes include the Americana cheeseburger and the orange chicken.

If you would like to sample The Cheesecake Factory you can buy a frozen original cheesecake at Costco in Australia. But if you want to try any of their other cheesecakes you’ll have to pop on over to the closest location in Hong Kong.

I don’t know why The Cheesecake Factory hasn’t come to Australia yet but I hope they consider us as a viable market soon. Fingers crossed.

Disneyland & Disneyworld

Disney theme parks are Inarguably the most magical theme park’s in the world. Disney theme park locations include Orlando, Anaheim, Hong Kong, Paris, Tokyo, and Shanghai.

Australia has zero Disney theme parks. I don’t know why. I mean we have plenty of room for one (or a dozen).

Each and every year millions of Australian children (and adults) are deprived of visiting a Disney theme park. How tragic.

We have a lot of tourism and at least 25 million people. I’m sure a Disney park would do well here. Please, Michael Eisner if you’re somehow reading this please bring Disney to Australia.

Universal Studios

Universal Studios currently operates in Singapore, Hollywood, Orlando and Japan. Construction also commenced on a Universal Studios in Dubai but construction ceased in 2009. There was also a Universal theme park in Spain. Universal sold all of its shares in the park in 2004 and in 2005 the park was renamed Port Adventura.

Australia has never had a history with Universal Studios but I think it’s time that we did. I’m sure Australia could accommodate a Universal Studios in similar size to Dreamworld. Bring on Harry Potter World and The Universal Simpsons world.

Wendys

I’m not referring to the Australian version of Wendys. I’m referring to the original and noteworthy burger chain founded in Dublin Ohio.

Wendys exists in Argentina, Aruba, Azerbaijan, Aruba, The Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Cayman Islands, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, United States, Venezuela, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kuwait, Philippines, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Guam and New Zealand.

Because there is already a well established Wendy’s chain within Australia it might be difficult for this chair to migrate to Australia but surely they could just rename the franchise for their Australian stores. If it is anything like Tacobell or Carls Jr there will be a lot of eager customers.

Wholefoods Market

Wholefoods Market is America’s healthiest grocery store and currently operates in the U.S, Canada and the United Kingdom. It is a health nuts dream supermarket. At Wholefoods, you will find the best and most fresh organic produce as well as specialty health food products.

It is also a fantastic store for people on speciality diets. There is a huge range of products for vegans, vegetarians, celiacs and people on allergy specific diets. If it does come to Australia I just hope that it isn’t too overpriced and that it has the same selection that is available in the United States.

Ulta Beauty

Ulta Beauty is a beauty product chain store in the United States. These stores are a makeup lovers dream and are usually way bigger than the beauty stores we have here in Australia.

They stock hundreds of brands and many products that you cannot get in in Australia so all of your beauty products can usually be found in one place.

I really hope Ulta comes to Australia. The least they could do is offer international shipping. Only time will tell.

Honourable mentions

There really are too many stores to list. But some honourable mentions include Sally Beauty, Five Guys, Hot Topic, In & Out, Shake Shack, Popeyes, Rainforest Cafe, American Target, Chipotle, Best Buy, Bubba Gump Shrimp, Disney Stores, Tim Hortons, P.F Changs and Texas Roadhouse.

Which international franchises do you wish would come to Australia. Let us know down below which franchises you think need to get it together and migrate to Australia.

We’re just going to have to dream until some of these finally come Downunder. I have high hopes for some of these.
