So have you just got engaged and realised that Weddings are expensive? Weddings take a lot of planning and effort. Many people spend months and even years planning a wedding only for it to be over in a single day. Some people prefer to get their wedding over and done within a small ceremony. This will help you avoid spending thousands of dollars on an over the top extravagant wedding.

Now you still need to tell some people. It will be hard for you and your fiance to do it alone. You might want to tell some people like your maid of honour and best man for example. Their help will be priceless.

But there are still a few things to plan. Here is how to plan a surprise wedding for your friends and family.

Choose a Date, Time and Celebrant

Firstly, you will need to find a place to get married, It doesn’t matter if it’s at your home, at a venue, park, beach or church. It’s up to you. Some people choose to have an engagement party and then surprise their guests with a surprise wedding at the engagement party.

You will need to choose the perfect place, time and celebrant for your wedding and importantly you will need to make sure that all your guests can make it at that date and time.

Do Your Best To Get Everyone Together

You and the few people that know about the surprise wedding will need to do your best to get everyone together. But you still can’t act too suspicious. Maybe tell your guests they’re coming to a birthday party, engagement party or just a get-together.

Plan your guest list

Plan whether you want this to be a small surprise wedding or a big surprise wedding. Are you going to invite everyone in your life or just close friends and family? Remember if you invite everyone you know it may be hard to get everyone together if they don’t know what the event is.

Do You Need To Feed Everyone?

After the ceremony will you have a party or reception? If yes you may need to consider feeding everyone. You’ll need to arrange to have enough food to feed all of your guests. You make need to arrange catering or a sit-down dinner for everyone so get budgeting.

ACT NORMAL!

Sometimes, we get too excited for the day of the surprise wedding. As this should be a surprise, you should have a calm approach and just be normal. Overwhelming feelings can have your guests suspect something so just act natural.

Plan Your Outfit

Since it’s a surprise wedding your guests probably won’t be dressed in traditional wedding guest attire. So you might choose to wear a more casual wedding dress. But that’s up to you. You can still go all out if you like. You may also want to plan to get your hair and makeup done but that’s up to you.

Hire a Photographer

You want your day to be memorable. iPhone photography won’t just cut it. Make sure you have a great photographer to catch the candid reactions of the surprised guests.
